Alla Zacarelli

Pianist Alla Zacarelli was born and educated in Russia. Upon completion of her studies at the Odessa and St. Petersburg Conservatories, she became a soloist, chamber musician and teacher, performing extensively in Russia and Europe.

Since her arrival in Canada she has appeared on CBC television and performed for the American Liszt Society, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Hamilton Place, the Hamilton Philharmonic, the McMaster Chamber Orchestra, and the 7th International Great Romantics Piano Festival.

Among her numerous performances as chamber musician, she has played in the McMaster Celebrity Series, at Hart House of the University of Toronto, with the "Passages" Ensemble, with Marta Hidy and Friends, and at the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as the Toronto Centre for the Arts.

Deeply committed to teaching, Ms. Zacarelli is a member of the piano faculties of McMaster University, the Royal Conservatory of Music Community School and the Glenn Gould Professional school on Toronto.

Her students have won provincial, national and international competitions.

She is regularly invited to serve on the jury of the Concours Musical de France in Paris, and the New York Julliard Music Summer School International Piano Festival in Puigcerda, Spain.

Alla Zacarelli conducts master classes in Russia, Canada, France and Spain, where she also has performed piano duos with renowned pianist, Oxana Yablonskaya.

She obtained an Honours Degree from the Leningrad and Odessa Conservatories, studied with Dmitry Basch-Kiroff and Pavel Serebriakoff, and took master classes with Karl Ulrich Schnabel.

An active performer and teacher, Alla has given numerous solo, piano duo, and chamber music recitals in Russia, Europe, and Canada.

Alla has also participated in international competitions, served as a jury member in France and Spain, and adjudicated festivals in Ontario.

With an Excellence in the Arts Award from Wentworth Creative Arts, Alla has belonged to McMaster University's faculty as well as The Royal Conservatory faculty since 1981.
