"I believe that music and words are full of color - emotional color! Whether using the texts or poems of Langston Hughes or Alexander Pushkin, paired exquisitely with the music of great composers like Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Florence Price and more, in each and every one of its performances, the RCAS beautifully causes the words and the music to burst forth with that color, and I am so very proud to be its Distinguished Patron!"

This concert series is dedicated to Russian chamber vocal music that is rarely performed in the United States. While interest in Russian operas has increased over the last decades in America, Russian romances (art songs) are virtually absent from the concert halls. This repertoire is unique and prolific. It encompasses music by the most famous Russian composers from the 19th century to present day, from Glinka and Tchaikovsky to Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Gavrilin, also including lyrics by the most beloved Russian poets, from Pushkin to Pasternak. The music is highly expressive, lyrical and passionate, and offers a great variety of genres and emotions, making it deeply appealing to all audiences. This series will feature both American and Russian-speaking singers, providing a valuable educational experience, musically and culturally, for performers and audiences alike. Russian Chamber Art Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to performance and education.
